Superfreq Records is a House and Techno label run by the iconic Mr.C, who as well as being the former front man of pioneering Acid House group The Shamen, he is also known to many for setting up influential UK club venue “The End” which he opened and ran with friends Layo & Bushwacka!

Superfreq is Mr.C’s most recent project and its run in collaboration with fellow DJ and producers Noël Jackson and David Scuba.

This new release features four original tracks from Jay Tripwire who is an influential Canadian producer, boasting an impressive back catalogue featuring over 200 releases on labels including Nervous Records, Poker Flat, Akbal Music, Supernature and many others of a similar calibre.

Including Jay’s recent remix under the alias of '8 Channels' this is his fifth appearance on Superfreq and second solo EP.

The lead track titled “Brothers Of Moogtown” is centred around an epic bass synth that drives the track with thick chords to create an infectious hook. Combined with tribal grooves and a sparse vocal sample washed in delay, this dancefloor weapon is a must have for peak time DJ sets.

Second on the release is “I Feelz” which has the bubbling acid of a 303 line mixed with warm pads and a funk infused bassline. Stripped back and precise, each part of the track in perfectly engineered to create an overall piece of music that is both classy and understated.

Track three is called “Got Yo Prescription” and as the title suggests is an addictive substance that gets you hooked after a single listen. Melodic chords blend with an uplifting melody to create a laidback groove and a perfect sunrise track. Guaranteed to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, this track has summer anthem written all over it.

Finishing off the release are the eerie textures of “Meenimal Wiggle” and the menacing undertones of its growling bassline. Snare rolls and claps fill the minimal soundscape while twisted vocals captivate the listener with startling effect. Finished off with a sound reminiscent of heavy breathing, this track may be dark and sinister, but it’s also prefect for intimate rooms with people dancing and sweat dripping off the ceiling.
