After Sudup Recordings' well-received Message For You EP by Ooze, the label returns with a new artist signing: the London-based producer Matt Evans AKA O.O.R.S.
A seasoned DJ, O.O.R.S recently entered the production realm with his
"Solebeats" track, released on Julian Sanza's Hearbeat Revolutions label
and remixed by Pete Dafeet. O.O.R.S also self-released his promo-only
OUTPUT series which garnered attention from heavyweights in the house
music community. For his Sudup debut, O.O.R.S drops the infectious sound
of "Callabonna Grove," a rolling, deep track, with
lush pads and some seriously intricate drum programming. This is a warm,
summery sounding track with a tasty percussion section up front in the
mix for added beach party rhythm fuel. The first in a trio of remixes
comes courtesy of Moodymanc, the prolific 20:20 Vision
Soundsystem member (also known as Dubble D). This mix plays on the
percussive element, adding deep chords and hypnotic, looping crowd
sounds just in the background. Dubby bits abound which help make this a
stunning deep house effort. The second 20:20 Vision Soundsystem
journeyman on this package, Julian Sanza (also part of
Silver City), then jumps on board for the next revision. Julian's mix
features a bold bass line anchored on a solid four-on-the-floor swing,
and a gorgeous build of synths, pads, and arpeggiations. Prime late
night tackle here. With the final say is Sudup Recordings' own Dlay,
coming off his popular remix on the aforementioned Ooze release. A
growling low end under a rhythmic shuffle drive this version's rotating
key stabs and shooting string notes, leading to an evocative,
mysterious-sounding musical breakdown. These four tracks further push
the Sudup sound, with high quality, unique deep house again delivered
without fail.
