Pop Out & Play - Spray Crazy

Spray Crazy [5D029] is an eclectic blend of deep, dub, and tech house, featuring an original mix of the title track from London's Pop Out & Play as well as 3 standout remixes from some of our longtime favorite artists. Pop Out & Play are Simon Tappenden (Ourra / Cyan-C) and Wil Russell, who became buddies after noticing each other’s tags in a dark subway back in the late 80s. A friendship first insprired by spray-paint fumes, Hip Hop & Electro beats and skateboards eventually saw the two producing tracks together, and vinyl releases came flowing on labels such as Visitor, Alola, Purpose, Special Needs, Star 69 and Sumsonic. After a decade long beer and snack break, Pop Out & Play are once again easing back into collaborative work with a few new releases including "Spray Crazy," which pays homage to where it all started for the duo.Amongst the list of remixers on this release is San Francisco's Mark Slee, who's steadily made a name for himself as a producer with releases on Looq, Cityfox, and Tenampa, and as a heavily respected and sought after DJ on the Listed Bookings roster. Mark's 'Deep Feelings' Dub is a superb reinterpretation of the original that is, well, deep. London's Tom Lown turns in the EP's second remix, which is quintessential Deep Tech House at its best. Tom's resume as a producer includes tracks on labels such as Lost My Dog, Sudup Recordings, Warmth Records, The Savant Guard and 3am Recordings. The EP's last remix is a downright sick 303-laden techy cracker from Denver native Ben Pound, whose numerous productions/co-productions (under monikers such as Mile High Club and The Fifth Jackson) have been featured on Nocturnal, MUM, BidMuzik, Om Records, and Frech to name just a few. Ben's remix of Spray Crazy is both a throwback and a modern interpretation of the very best of old-school acid house and techno.
