Rounding out a busy spring season, Nylon Trax has released a delectably offbeat single from South African producer Mr. Osup. Entitled Standards of Deep, the single is accompanied by a sparse remix from label founder Jaymz Nylon. Both of which will no doubt be essential ingredients this summer.
Quickly plodding and skipping, the newest addition to the Nylon Trax catalogue fits snugly within the idiosyncratic framework the Seattle-based label has come to be known for. Incorporating tinny pads, and brittle synths, Standards of Deep goes deep without going loud. Exercising similar restraint, Nylon’s remix whittles the original down without failing to sprinkle in his trademark, Afrotech-inspired sound.
