VA - 3AMWAX Vol 1
So after 10 years away from vinyl, 3am Wax Vol.1 hails a return to 12′ on the label. For the relaunch on wax, the EP features an all-3am cast of producers, three making their debut on vinyl & one making a return to 12′ after a 12 year gap. It seems only right that the lead track should come from Al Bradley, making his debut on 12′ on his own label. Kindergesicht is a low-down bassy affair, with a synth run playing over it; this is a slight departure from the normal sound Al goes for, but as this track was made specifically for 12′, a slightly deeper approach was taken. Next up is 3am regular & Midnight Social Recordings main-man Carlo Gambino, also making his vinyl debut. Turning in a deep acid workout, with a neat vocal interwoven into thetrack, this is again a slightly different vibe from Carlo, retaining his percussive style, but with a slightly more twisted feel.
Returning to 3am is another artist who has featured regularly on the label since its launch in 2003, Ben Dean. His debut ever release wason 3am (TAM006 to be precise) so we felt that Ben would make a wicked addition to the EP & he definitely has -Track Three is a powerful acid vibe, heavy on the drums & with a raw old-school feel. Rounding off the EP is another 3am regular, Michael Scott. Michael’s debut ever release was on 3am & as someone who has been involved with the label ever since, including appearances at 3am label gigs, we wanted to support Michael again & welcome him to the world of 12′. His track for the EP, Underdisc, is a percussive vibe with a refrain in the break that will be familiar to some, taking its cue from the early 90s. This took the roof off when played in London off the test pressing recently, so we know this works!
3am Wax Vol.1 is being distributed by Juno & is release on March 7th2016
